When you say "Mac specialists" was this contacts with AppleCare call center agents or in-store representatives? AppleCare agents are not trained to support Microsoft software, even for the Mac OS. Things like install/uninstall they can support, but troubleshooting is a no-no. Think of this way, if you get an HP, and you install Adobe CS4 but it doesn't launch, who are you gonna call? HP can tell you if the computer can run it but they're not going to be able to tell you, "Oh, THAT error? Here's how to fix it..."
Not trying to be harsh here, but the 7 months deal doesn't mean much of anything to Apple, unless there's actually a manufacturer defect or a hardware failure of some sort on the computer that they can fix.
Microsoft does have some online resources @
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.mspx. They also have their phone support line, which you generally get 2 free calls to assuming you have your 25 digit product serial key handy.
nadyne from the MR forums is from the Microsoft Business Unit also frequents these forums. Sometimes she has been able to help people out, but I don't think her primary job role is to troll the forums or offer technical support for things that may require some in-depth troubleshooting.
