I upgraded to Office 11 from Office 04 on 4 iMacs in a department in my environment. Unfortunately one installation went bad on the director's machine, which fails to close properly and constantly gets the error--

Compile Error: Method or data member not found.
Searching around on Google, I found several issues from Access 2003 with the VB Script, but nothing pertinent for Office 2011.

same problem.

installed it on 10.6.5 mac 3 days ago. only Word is giving that error (VB Script). something to do with normal.dotm template. tried searching for the template but could not find it.

Its fine how in the script with an error there is a line about Dec13th virus warning.

hopefully someone can help out

I'm having the same issue. After installing Office 2011 the user decided to migrate his old mac to the new one. The old mac had Office 2008.

Now I get the error message every time I try and close out of word.

I've tried completely removing office:

and reinstalling.... Same thing?

any other ideas?

I found something that worked.

Quit word.

Make sure it is completely closed. (I had to force quit it)

Navigate to: USER'S_HOME_FOLDER:Library:Application Support:Microsoft:Office:User Templates.

Delete the Normal.dotm file. (empty trash)

I must have missed this the first time around.

Relaunch word from the Dock.
