Office for Windows allows one to read a document's extended properties without having to open the file. (A Windows tool called DSOFile.dll exists to make that process even easier).

I am making the transition to Mac and Office 2011, but DSOFile does not work on a Mac. Does anyone know of a way to read a Word document's (or other Office file's) extended properties without opening the file.

Looks like MS has not released an equivalent to DSOFILE for their mac version of office
