Hey Guys,

I just got a newer Macbook Pro that has Leopard installed and Office 2011. I want to do a fresh install of Lion (already have the USB key with OS on it) but I want to keep Office 2011. The guy I bought it from couldn't find the original install CD.

If I go into the "About" section, it's registered to the previous owner's name and there is a registration #, but I'm not sure that's the same as the install Key.

Will Setup assistant help transfer Office 2011 from the backup?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Before you move to Lion from Leopard, how much RAM do you have installed. You might not be happy with performance if you are low on RAM.

You can download the trial and use your CD key to activate, but it sounds like you don't have a CD key.

You can try saving these files and replace the defaults. I can't guarantee it will work.

Open YOUR User's/Library/Preferences

"com.microsoft.office.plist"

Open folder "Microsoft" in YOUR User's/Library/Preferences
Open folder "Office 2011"
Add back "Office Registration Cache" and "OLE Registration Database"

You'll need to log out/in after making the change.
