Office 2011 Mac - question

I am considering buying a MacBook Pro with factory installed Office 2011. With that said, will my Windows XP Microsoft Word documents transfer over with no issues ? How about templates ?

Sorry for a silly question but I am making my first foray into Apple-land and wanted to ask.
