I have a valid copy of Office 2021 that I have been using for over a year. Aside from not liking subscription software I often go on long remote trips with no access to the internet and often spend at least 2 weeks with no connection. Definitely wanted to avoid the subscription model that will stop if not periodically connected to the mother ship. We'll.......
I got tired of continual, almost continuous reminders to update (often with no update), so I deleted the update code app (I would manually update every quarter or so). All was fine for about a month, no irritating useless reminders but .... today I could not save on any office application, Office was useless. A moment of panic then I got that window to activate my product (sorry, I do not recall how I got that window). A single click and all is fine and a new update app is in my library folder with a request to update, of course with nothing to update.
So owning the software does not guarantee that you can work offline for extended periods. Looks like a month, then you better find a connection.
