Anyone have a solution or idea how to fix this issue under Yosemite? I know some of you will say "lol friend upgrade to 2011" but if I can get this version working it would save me spending money for an upgrade that I really don't need.

It's a clean Yosemite install, installed Office, ran updater -> this happened.

I have a feeling this is an issue that only MS will be able to resolve server side (if they even would) but thought I'd ask as I'm getting nowhere with Google.

As an update / follow up, I tweeted @Office seeking some answers & received this reply.

Tl:dr The link he posted asking if it "related" to the problem was a support page for email decryption problems in office 2010 for, wait for it...yes..Windows!

Could they be more inept if they tried?

Actually, no. If you'd read up a bit more you'd know that Office 2008 support ended over 18 months ago - unless you'd paid for extended support, but I'll assume you haven't or you wouldn't be here whining about this here. They're under no obligation to help you - don't pick on them, or me for pointing this out to you.

OS X changed its directory structure considerably in Lion, and MS patched 2008 - which I owned, and moved on to 2011 some time ago - to accommodate legacy users.

Upgrade, or do your best with this from a friend from UTA (http://www.utexas.edu/its/help/user-certs/833). I'm not following this thread, you're on your own.
