Hi guys,

I've lost my single-use activation code for Office for Mac and just before updating to the newest version (14.4.2), I noticed that it requires you to activate again.

Should I avoid updating, as it seems it only affects two small issues with PowerPoint which won't bother me in the slightest.

I will likely be upgrading to Office 2014 if/when it's released anyway.

Thanks!

I just checked and I haven't had to re-enter anything. It's 14.4.2.

OK, I might just bite the bullet and update, I'm a little worried because on the release notes it says reactivation is required, however I feel it's always best to have up-to-date software.

Reactivation is just Office phoning home to verify a legitimate copy. Doesn't require entering your key unless it fails.

I was asked to re-enter my key.

I believe that there's a way to extract your key from your existing installation so it might be worth doing that, but I can't give any further details as I've never done it.

For some reason Office for Mac 2011 sometimes "forgets" its activated and you need to re-activate it. I too have heard of tools that can extract the serial number needed but I've never done that so the exact steps/tools are unknown to me - sorry.

There are quite a few for Windows (Belarc being my choice), but I've not found one yet for the Mac and it would be good to have in my repair "toolkit"....if anyone can recommend one, please do so.
