Sorry for the noob question but i cant seem to find the answer anywhere else.

I have two macs one of which has office for mac on it. If i want to install it to the second one and use it on both do i have to buy a second copy of OFM...or can i just install the software i have on the second one?

Thanks

If you have bought a copy of MS Office for Mac OS X with only one license, then you can only use that license for one computer, unless the EULA states otherwise, like "one license to install on two computers, but never run them at the same time".

Look into the EULA and see for yourself.

Office 2004 Student and Teacher edition and Office 2008 Home and Student editions include 3 licenses for use in a single home. If you have one of those versions, you'll have three stickers with license codes.

When previous versions of Office:Mac ran they used to advertise a hash of their license code over a TCP port to the local network. If another Mac started Office under the same license code the user would get a message that the software could not run on more than one machine at a time. Unless that's changed I think it's probably safe to install the software on multiple machines but you can't use the same copy on those machines simultaneously.

For the record, it hasn't changed.

Yep, this is true. I just recently uploaded my OFM back onto my old computer after I did a wipe and reload of OSX just before I sold it. I called Office for Mac and they said that it was no problem. My student version has three stickers as mentioned. I used the very first one and bingo-no problems.
