Hi
Im going to start uni next year and so im getting my first laptop. I have a PC with windows XP just now but im really keen on a macbook.
just a few questions.
1) what is the difference between the student version and the full version
2) can i transfer my current "Word" and "Powerpoint" from my PC onto a macbook if i have office

The student and "full" version of Office for mac 2008? Home and Student edition includes Word, Powerpoint, Excel, & Entourage, but you will not have exchange support or automator workflows (both of which are included in the regular version). There's also the "special" media edition that includes a full version of Expression Media for Mac.

Yes, you can transfer office files between macs and PCs.

EDIT: I just re-read your post. No, you cannot use a windows version of Office on a mac (unless of course you're running it in Windows through Boot Camp).
