I have the option of buying one of Office Mac 10 or Office 2004 for Mac .. pretty cheap through a work program.

My question is which one should I be getting? I have an iBook G4 with Panther.
My parents and sister have iBook G4 with Tiger installed.

Thanks! :)

I would go with 2004.

isn't the 2004 the newer version of 10? or are they more different than that

I still use Office v X and it works just fine, but if you have a choice you should buy v 2004.

Exactly. Buying new for the same price: Buy 2004, which is the most recent. (Be sure to install all the updates).

2004 also has the super hot notebook feature which, if I actually had Office installed on any of my Macs, would be the determining factor because I take a lot of lecture notes.

There are lots of other little tiny nuances. The two additions of the bubble view for track changes and the little pop-up menu that comes up when you paste something, and lets you paste special it after the fact... are priceless (2003 on PC has these, also, AFAIK).

I had a similar choice and chose Office 2004, not sure what type of discount you will receive but I ended up paying $20 bucks for office 2004 through my employers microsoft volume discount which was cool. Hopefull I will still have this job when the new version of office comes out later next year. :D
