Office (specifically OneNote) on new MBP w/TB

I've just installed office and am using OneNote. It lags so badly while I'm writing things in the notebook that it's driving me insane. The rest of the OS is really smooth but Office is horrendous. Is this typically the case?

that's weird re onenote...first lets see if others are having the similar problem or its just you.... or google mac os sierra onenote lag for example...
