Hi!

When I connect two official adapters together and plug into my MacBook Pro M3 Pro I get an 'Accessory not supported...' message.

Does anyone know why they are incompatible?

USB-C to Lightning Adapter and Lightning to USB-A Adapter

Thanks!

I believe this adapter is only compatible w/ iPhone and iPad w/ USB-C ports.
Yes I am aware of that mate. I was just trying a workaround to save buying a USB-C to USB-A cable and wondered why both wouldn't work together.

Thanks for your reply! :)

This. And same with the other connector.

Since there are chips within the connectors, there is a verification process going on that probably does not go through the full chain of connectors. No pass-through from one MFi connector through/to another. The "outermost" cable is probably not getting verified as legit.

As proof of authorization, the accessory sends an Apple-provided certificate to the device, which the device then verifies. The device then sends a challenge, which the accessory must answer with a signed response.

Ah that makes sense. Thanks for your informative reply. :)

(sigh)
Buy the cable.
They're not expensive.

(I'd recommend that you buy at least TWO of these)
