I've officially switched! I bought a refurbished iMac G5 . Put more ram in it, added an airport extreme card and it is SCHWEET! :D:D:D

I love the ripple effect and h.264 is jaw-dropping. Halo doesn't look too bad on it either! I've got it customized to my needs...for now.

I'll post pics when I can.

First post on my iMac G5.

sweet, congrats! i wish i had a machine like that!!!

::::looks at powerbook, your getting old!:::::

Including RAM and AE card: $1000. Plus I got a free printer and blue logitech mx510

Now that's a good deal if I ever saw one. I have NEVER seen an iMac G5 offered anywhere for $1000 or less. You sure got yourself a nice machine. All I can say is this...enjoy Mac OS X - you'll discover something new every day for a while, like I did when I started using Mac OS X in the 10.1 era (I "switched" from Mac OS 9).

Congratulations!!

It may take some time to get used to it. (It's so intrinsically different to Windows - contrary to people saying it's the same) but it's such a liberating experience to find you're not dominated by Windows and it's obscurities.

I think the strangest thing for me was not having to click randomly everywhere in the hope you'll find what you want. I was like "ooooohhh, it's right there!!

Apple's Special Deals page has had the refurb Rev A 17" 1.6 for $899 since the Rev B's were announced. The Rev A 17" 1.8Ghz is $999.

Really hurts the resale value of G4 flat panel iMacs... :(
