This issue is confusing to me. Simply put. Can I use offline maps with Carplay? I know you can download offline maps and use them on your phone for offline navigation, but can you do that with Carplay? I like using the larger display of my car head unit that has carplay and don't like the phone hanging off my car vents or whatever. I don't have phone mirroring so can't go that route. As I understand it, I need a data connection to even use Carplay, so if I lose the signal, the offline maps will not worK on my head unit? Is that correct? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. The “I need a data connection to use CarPlay” seems false to me; I’ve never “lost” CarPlay while driving due to no data. Maps seems to pre-load all the detail for a route so if I’m without data during my route the maps continue to show detail… of course re-routing or searching a new destination while not in data coverage could be an issue; it’s just never come up in my experience.
