I trying to get Wikipedia on a PPC G5 iMac that i'm preparing for a friend without internet access.

I've tried using Site Sucker but it would end up taking about 100 days to download.

There is a an app thjat has a databased that can be downloaded called Wiki Offline but it is only available for Intel and iOS.

I'm trying to get a 6 month old bit torrent, but that is going to take a week to download and I'm not sure how'll i'll go with a XML file.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

There is a program called Okawix that is an open source browser for Wiki dumps and is a available for PowerPC Macs.

On that page you'll find a link to a torrent. The Wikipedia dump is fairly old and the Oki browser is rather crude and I'm not sure how it works I just finished downloading the 12.5 GBs via bit torrent.

If you want this 12.5GB file I suggest you download the bit torrent program Transmission (faster than Utorrent) and open that linked torrent above. I'll leave Tranmission running as long as I can seeding. There is also Wictionary, Wikiquote, and Wikibooks which I'll seed as well.
