My personal opinion is that the new ibooks (i refuse to call them macbooks) is ugly i think the worst design i have seen come out of apple (in the time that they went from beige to translucent plasttics) i have ever seen, the black macbook looks like a pc from what i have gathered the outer case of it is a matte black and not glossy like the white ones i may have liked it, the horrible keyboard ugh! and the thick bazel around the screen dear me! and don't even get me started on the intel integrated graphics

I dont think it's THAT bad. I personally don't like the integrated graphics or form factor too much, but I do like the added i-Sight and Front Row... even though I would most likely never use those features. I don't like the widescreen or glossy aspect, so I think the previous "iBook" is better looking, but I think the software is better on the MacBook. If my iBook had Front Row, it would be the best Mac for me by far. :D

I have an idea on how to Stick-It to apple with this new design!!!

If you don't like it.. Don't buy one!

No worries, I'll tell them that you aren't going to buy one while I'm down there picking up a black one for my wife. (I think it will look nice next to my 17" MBP)
 
Umm.. besides the black one, don't they look eexactly like the old iBooks?
Hey, at least they aren't clamshells, the silliest design of all time.

Don't get me wrong those are great but i would have preferred them on the icewhite ibook
 
I really like them, especially the white. The G4 iBook never had that quality look about it that the square G3s had. I can even live with the integrated graphics on the MacBooks when it's time for me to buy.

Not in the market hopefully for a while though. My 12" PowerBook is sticking with me for the moment.

You are wrong, go have a look at them both in the flesh the MacBook's put the iBooks to shame for build quality and looks trust me,

I think they look good, but don't care for a higher price that includes intergrated graphics, blah@anyone who says "well get a MBP". They need a true 12" replacement, with the exact specs as the low end MBP (excluding screen resolution of course).
 
I think they look really good, with the white one looking better than the black one. I agree with above posts that it would have looked better had they made it shiny like the white one.

The black MacBook reminds me of the G3 PowerBooks, which is not a bad thing. They had a great design. So, I think the design of the new MacBooks is kind of retro, which is cool in my opinion.

The main reason I like the design over the iBook G4's is because they slimmed them waaay down, and that keyboard just looks kickass.

I don't actually have to type it, do I? ;)

I've been trying to figure out where the hell the latch is. I couldn't see it above or next to the iSight on the lid...
