Oh no! Beach balls, SD card not working, hellpp

I am having a fe problems here.

One, I am getting LOTS of colorful beach balls lately... very annoying...I've quit playing Frontierville, so that's not it LOL

Second, the thing is not recognizing my SD card (Sandisk Ultra SDHC). This is a brand new card with only a few photos on it.

Have a look at Activity Monitor (Applications / Utilities /) and select All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.
Also check the "System Memory" tab to see what your "Page ins:", "Page outs:" and "Swap used:" are.

2. Does the MBP recognise the SD card while inside the camera, and even when the camera is connected via USB to the MBP? Have you tried "Image Capture" yet? It is located inside your Applications folder.
