Oh where, oh where have my icons gone?

I downloaded a whole bunch of new icons today. After brosing about 10 folders, the Finder stopped showing the previews (it just showed a little white page). I though maybe the folder was corrupt, so I went to a folder of icons I know are good, and no dice - just little blank white pages. Re-logged in and problem was gone. A handful of folders later, problem reappears. What's the deal?
