It sucks. Heck I have seen Windows 11 betas that were smoother, less bug free and faster than Vuntura. HDMI breaks, Video apps break and its just not a smooth experience anymore. There others who have experienced worse than me as well.

Don't say this is a beta... Apple will something ship it like this in October or November. They don't care. We don't need a new desktop OS every year, just upgrade and fix the bugs on the one you already have.

To be fair software has been like this for years on lots of devices. Most even run an OS year behind. Just the way software is now regardless of OS or even video games. You essentially get a production beta and inherently become a beta tester without your knowledge. Too many incomplete features, ecosystem issues, and update frequency all plays a part.

Would you rather have updates every day/week like Microsoft or few and far between like Apple? My spouse hates updates while I would like weekly but she’s a typical consumer and I’m an engineer. Think about Apple’s primary clients and you’ll see they would rather have bells and whistles than behind the scenes updates that do nothing. Whoever got excited about a security update vs a crap version of say stage manager.

I want a macOS LTS option where we only get security updates. Like how Linux does it.

The only issue that I have is the built in DVDPlayer app will not play Region 2 DVDs, but it has never worked for me with Ventura and it works fine under Monterey.

Edit Update: Dev Beta 10 fixed the built in DVDPlayer app issue I was having..

Simply don't upgrade straight away. Unless you absolutely have to buy a new Mac which comes with the initial version of the new OS preinstalled you seldom actually have to. It's pretty much the only option you have.

When Apple pumped out new Mac OS X releases on a less frequent basis they tended to have issues all the same. After 2 years of development Mac OS X Tiger had quite a few problems. Apple even updated its box with a green round circle saying "10.4.3 Now Inside" to get people to upgrade, because by that time they finally fixed most large issues. So did Mac OS X Leopard and, yes, even the much loved Mac OS X Snow Leopard. A longer timeframe between releases doesn't seem to automatically lead to a more polished initial release. And from what I remember there were smaller Mac OS X 10.x.x updates that caused similar problems as a major 10.x release.

Yup, just upgrading my older Macbooks to Monterey now, it is great on the M1 Pro :D. I'm an engineer too, but don't think I've installed a .0 update since Snow Leopard. I'll likely be installing Ventura a few months after release on my home machine if they don't majorly break anything, and next year on the business/family Macs.

They actually added this in iOS 16 and macOS Ventura.

Even now, Apple latest attempts to further lock down and secure their OS is playing havoc with a lot of the audio software I using. Im feeling these apps are having trouble securing the permissions they need to run correctly amid a few other bugs.

-RME Audio are providing Beta drivers for their interfaces on their website, ive never seen them go to these lengths in their history. Sending them crash logs

-Rogue Ameoba Audio Hijack only works with their Beta.

-Izotope Ozone 10 and Neutron 4 - just installed both M1 versions and one doesn't work at all and the other has glitched out text.

-Spitfire Audio plugin engine - Can't find presets, have to follow Beta and Terminal based work around on their website

-Sonarworks Sound ID Reference- Crashes and inconsistent launching as a startup item. Working the Beta with them trying to fix. Sending crash logs.

-East West / Play- Installation center forgot library locations so everything in Play didn't work until I figured it out and re-linked

Ventura is still in Beta, none of this is unusual or unexpected. Additionally, it appears all your problems are with other software vendors, not Apple. It is on RME, Rogue Ameoba, Isotope, Spitfire Audio, and Sonarworks to get their software working with Ventura, not the other way around.

edit: And lastly, if you installed a Beta release on your production system, or main system you work on, whatever you want to call it, that is on you.

As you appear to be aware, this is beta software. If you don't like bugs, stay on non beta software.

and it also worsed by the fact Apple is under going an arch shift. Bleeding edge is what Apple is these days.
It's awesome for the adventurer but annoying for the users who want stability.

Is Mail broken for anyone else? After updating to latest beta last night, I've got no mail coming in, regardless of whether it's an Apple mail account, Google Mail account, or others.

I am receiving mail but have deleted emails reappearing. Some immediately and at times in a few minutes. Happens intermittently. Sent in feedback today.

Dev 10 is better. It need a few more betas. But I think the Settings app needs 2 more OS updates. So by macOS 15 it should be good.
