Ok got my pc up on my mac shared folder, what now

ok ive got a firewire connecting my pc and mac, ive got my pc showing up on my mac shared in finder, it says connection failed though, and when i press connect as, it asks for a username and password, i type in the username for the pc and the password, and it says ive entered an invalid usrname or password, could some one plz help me
