Ok... Just got back from buying a 17 UBMBP... a defect apparently

Hello Guys... will post pics later today

Well in the top right side of the body there is scratch that is only noticeable sideways in bright light conditions.... mmmm should I return it??? I could go right now...

Let me know your thoughts....

Anything likely to decrease resale value in the future means money out of your pocket.

In other words, return it.

had the same prob. when i brought it back they were like and what am i looking for... So i said i was looking for a manager. it was very hard to see. but depending on the way the light hits it. so the manager came with iklear witch made it more visible. he said that was nothing but he would exchange it if i liked. so i have a new one and its great! no light bleed either!!!!!!

Yep... in the apple store at the moment... they already exchanged it...


exactly the same defect as the one you had... lets see how this new one looks

Nice work James!

Hope this one works out....if you get this before you leave...honestly, I would ask if they would mind if you opened it up there in the store and took a look at it.

Do a quick check for the following.

1. dead pixels
2. scratches
3. monitor problems
4. (if you really have the time) GPU artifacting

Might save you another trip

Lol mate just left... Already opened up the new one... seems flawless (im currently posting from my 15 mbp) what is the cpu artifacting btw?
 
Guys another thing...

I have at the moment the 17 inch and the 15 inch mbp.... both unis... Ive heard that the 17 is much dimmer than the 15... is this true? in case it is... should I return it... for the second time lol....

seems you would be in a good position to test this yourself......
