Here I am 48 hours or so after buying this thing. I'm generally very happy with it, but it developed a few quirks over two days that eventually required yanking the power cord to fix it.
My setup:
iMac running 10.13.3
iPhone running 11.3 beta 2
Apple Music Subscription and iTunes Match
HomeKit setup w/Lutron Caeseta, Kwickset Premis
Homebridge with Nest Thermostat, Nest Protects, and a Roomba
Anyhow, setup with a minor glitch - the initial popup was dismissed by a system alert - and I could not get it to reappear again. Had to cycle power on the HomePod to get it to appear again.
Then came about 24 hours of performance that met expectations. One annoying issue was the songs I had on my iTunes Library could not be played at all unless I used the HomePod as an Airplay speaker. Quite annoying.
HomePod would appear on the iPhone as "not responding" then it would clear up. But it spent most of the time as "not responding". It worked fine otherwise.
While playing a song from the iMac, Siri would not identify it, and iTunes "lost" control - as in all controls would not affect the HomePod, skip, pause and volume failed to work, but the music just kept on coming. Force-quitting iTunes and retrying fixed that issue. So now I can skip and pause.
Today it got weird. The HomePod was suddenly able to play songs from my iTunes library that are *NOT* available on iTunes (status is uploaded, not match, and a search turns up nothing) - just by asking Siri. My guess is that it is able to parse the metadata uploaded with iTunes match - and if so, this is a great thing! Tried several more songs and confirmed this is in fact the case.
After 3 or 4 songs, it got wonky again - Siri would pause and say "wait a second" and eventually declare the network is down - when it definitely isn't.
Pulled the power cord again, it came up and now everything is fine.
Anyone else having these issues?
The iTunes Match thing is quite a nice surprise though.
