all you fence straddlers can now go buy a current mp/mbp since it looks like there will be no update this june.

I would wait...

...until Aug-Sept. or toward the end of the Back to school Promo. This gives :apple: the time they need to pull off a nominal speed bump. The total redesign is for MW2009SF... :apple:

And what about those who can't decide whether or not to wait for a mini revision... surely they have to hang in there now!:p

I listened to everyone who said that it wouldn't be updated and decided to get a refurb, should be getting here in two days

Is there anywhere one could buy a MBP now and return to get an update if it appears in July or August? Would Fry's Electronics or Best Buy allow a return after a couple months? I wish Costco was selling Macs in a more dedicated manner - they seem to appear locally here and there but not longterm (I think they get deals from local vendors but not with Apple directly).

Are you serious?

Haha. No, sorry but you can only return/exchange your mac in just 14 days. After that, you have a warranty on it for a year unless you buy applecare where you would have three. No returns after 14 days. A month or two is just too long to return it dude. This is a laptop.

why waste your money if you're planning to buy the next revision anyway?
you're just giving yourself a lot of headache:D

Will do. I hope to buy one today!

PS: do i have to phone to get the CS3 deal... don't wanna talk to people...

No I think you just add it to cart and they either do an instant rebate or a mail-in.

No one would do that or they wouldn't make money; for regular electronics like Costco it's 90 days, but for computers it's 30 days.

Best Buy is 14 days.

so how many more cycles of updates are we going to have this year? 2?

if thats the case there should be an update in july/august and another one in november/december, no?

+1

Well, I've just ordered a refurbished 2.5GHz 15 inch MBP.

I'm a terrible sufferer of "buyers remorse", so I'm very pleased that I waited for WWDC... at least now I can enjoy my new toy for what it is - an amazing piece of technology! I'm not willing to wait any longer, and certainly won't be waiting for the "possible" Montevina - which may turn out to be Nehalem in early 09.

The wait is killing me already :)

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful community here on Macrumors and for the helpful threads and advice. Cheers.

I'll wait...

Pactiently,

Luring under the surffice,

Waiting to attack,

To the 14th at least :p

Sorry I'm new here. I dont understand... WWDC is from June 9-13, right? Today is only the 10th--so we have 3 more days until we know for sure it wasn't announced at WWDC? Or is the first /opening day the only day they are allowed to announce the new MBP on?

Just buy one. It is a phenominal machine. I think you are going to be satisfied whether you wait or not. And buying it and then exchanging it is just pointless.

Does anyone seriously believe that there'll be MBP revisions in August?

No, they'll be in July.

There is no "allowed", it's just not going to happen at WWDC.
