My MacbookPro has OS 10.4.11.
I am going to install/upgrade a copy of OS 10.6 from a burned/copied install disc that is located on a separate hard drive.
Will not having OS 10.5 be a problem?
Will my install/upgrade be simple and go smoothly, or am I going to need to first acquire and install/upgrade to OS 10.5 before I can upgrade to OS 10.6?

Why do you have a "burned/copied install disk"? This forum won't help you with stolen software.

To answer the other issue, though, no, you do not need 10.5 to go from 10.4.x to 10.6. All OS upgrades purchased from Apple contain the full software version, and can perform a clean install without any software already installed on a drive, as well as an upgrade from any previous version of 10.x.
