...now i'm sure i'm in the right thread. I have an ipod touch 2.1.1, can some1 give me the step by step(ipod for dummies) on how to SAFELY jailbreak this thing. i've read some 50/50 advice on it & scarred 2 try. i kno this kills you techies helping out newbies, but the help is greatly appreciated.:D:apple::D

It only kills us because you don't NEED a step-by-step.

Google PwnageTool. It's the only iPhone/iPod touch unlocking software that you need to be using at this point. It does everything for you; that's good, eh?

Yes everyone is forgetting one simple fact, he said 2.1.1

2.1.1 = 2nd Gen iPod Touch

The 2nd gen is NOT jailbreakable yet, so no jailbreak software will work. I would also suggest you don't try as it could brick your iPod.

will there ever be a jb 4 2.1.1? should i upgrade 2 2.2 or just wait until the devteam posts sumthing?

Yes there eventually will be a 2.2 jailbreak for the 2nd gen, it's just a matter of time. While you're waiting, you're more then welcome to upgrade to 2.2, because you can always downgrade back if you want.

you can't downgrade...i have tried numerous times to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1.1 and it completely does not work at all.

Yes you can easily downgrade. How have you tried? Also I'm assuming you have a 2nd gen ipod touch? Because if you have a 1st gen, and you are trying to downgrade to 2.1.1, it will not work.
