I downloaded something from Apple.com and decided that I no longer want it. What is the most effective was to delete a program or uninstall it?
I came from a PC world and know there is quite a few steps to removing a program. I was told to just put it in the trash can?

You just put it in the trash, IF it doesn't have an uninstall app (a few apps do, like those for Adobe). After putting it in trash there are files left behind in the Library, but they are very small and don't need to be deleted. Should you want them deleted when you trash something, get an app like apptrap or I forget the other one.
