So I got two MBPs, one for me, one for spouse. I ended up transferring mine to a coworker, and returning my spouse's.

But... weird stuff has happened. The coworker kept getting asked questions about my contact info, and when they finally shipped his replacement (it also needed repair), they apparently shipped it to me. (We'll find out in another 5-6 days.)

And when I scheduled the return for my spouse's, they sent the confirmation email to the coworker.

I have no idea what's going on, I just think this is funny.

EDIT: Okay, so, after two and a half hours of chat and phone support, and being bounced among three departments.

WHAT HAPPENED: His machine which needed "repair", somehow someone got the clever idea of expediting this by converting it to a return-and-replacement. To simplify this, they changed that order to have his email address on it. But! They didn't change billing or shipping addresses. So his replacement machine is now on its way to me.

When I tried to do a return, they sent the email confirmation to the email address on the account.

However, this also meant that the AppleCare people had no record of any repair, because they never ended up with a repair case; it was being processed only by the sales staff. The sales department's automated chat system has some very badly-coded automatic behavior, like "send a redirect to call someone and end chat" if you don't guess the keywords that will cause it to send you to a specialist. You can't talk to senior people through chat at all in the sales department, that's phone only. (A+ accessibility there, Apple.) And while there's at least three different departments (technical support, customer service, and sales), there's nothing you can do that lets you pick the department by one of those names; you get directed by approximate question/answer filters. But the chat systems aren't connected and they can't transfer between them.

So that ended up taking two and a half hours most of which was spent waiting for people to look into things.

To add humor value, the machine they're sending back should reach me the day we both fly to the same office. If they try to redirect the delivery, at this point, it may or may not get sent to him... But will be delayed by another day. But my flight is in the evening. So if it shows up before very late afternoon, I can take it with me and give it to him in the office the next day.

I believe the technical computer science term here is "clusterfsck".
