ok, we all know the games on those old green screen mac's, number muchers and oregon trail, etc, i know you all love these i did too.

i remember this one game that came up in a nostalgic talk with friends, and we couldn't put a name to it.

the concept of the game was growing plants, like i remember you had to grow a watermelon plant and alter the light variables and water variables... and let them grow....

argh, if anyone knows this game or has screenshots... please reply! i know you know what i'm talking about.

ARGH! i totally know what you're talking about...

but i have no idea what the name of it is...

my favorite ][e/IIe (i never know which name is correct) was Resilon- the game where the stuff fell and bounced around the screen, you were the tank that had to shoot it.

Shoot, I'm also drawing a blank on that one - I remember playing it too.

My favorite IIe game was Arctic Fox. A 3D tank sim, very awesome.

My favorite was Cytron Masters if anyone remembers.

I loved Oregon Trail... and what was the game that you were a fish, and you had to make a choice of what fish to eat, and there were otters, and bigger fish and fishermen... that game was fun...

EDIT: Its Odell Lake

I think youre thinking about sim farm, you can find it on the Mac Garden.

don't think it was sim farm.

it was really more educational than anything. i'll always remember the whole 'variables' thing

Anyone got any good kids games for free download?

You know, safe cool stuff for my 7 year old boy?:)

I loved the Apple IIe! My grandma brought one home from the school she worked at. I use to play Oregon Trail, Number Munchers, Lemonade Stand, and Odell Lake.

Anyway, I think I know what you're talking about, but I have no idea what it's called.

There was another game I use to play of which I don't remember the name. It was one or two player, and had little robots that went across a platform, and then lowered to another platform. I don't recall what allowed you to move the certain number of spaces, though.

I still have my old apple and a bunch of games for it. I don't remember ever playing the one you mention, though.

I still dig on Snooper Troopers.

old mac games

now i don't remember every single game i played on the apple 2e but i do remember a few.

Toreador93, i believe the game you are referring to is ChipWits. im not sure where to download it but that is the game i think you are referring to.

but the growing game is eluding me as of yet...

I think you probably mean www.virtualapple.org :)

There's also Wikipedia's List of Apple II Games.

Lemonade Stand?!? Growing educational plants?!? Number Munchers?!?

Good grief. Didn't you guys play any real games?? ;)

On our school Apple IIe computers we used to play proper classics like:
  • Lode Runner
  • Castle Wofenstein
  • Beyond Castle Wolfenstein
  • Drol
  • Dino Eggs
  • Hard Hat Mack
  • Karateka
  • Super Bunny
and more. :)

No Answer?

It's now 2010 and I just saw this and I too do not know the name of that game you are describing. Spent so much time playing it. Did anyone find out???

The answer of the plant simulator program is...

Lunar Greenhouse. One of my favs as a kid growing up in the early 90s...along with Odell Lake.

Cheers!
