So some blogs say that the old 3GS bootrom can be jailbroken, and some say that it can't. I'm running iOS 4 unjailbroken. I have the old bootrom. Is there a program that will jailbreak it? (Sorry if I sound like a noobie right now, I'm just confused with all these blogs saying yes, and no.) I'm guessing that I have to join the waiting line for the next Spirit update, correct?

Yep, just join the line :D
If you updated to official 4.0 and you dont have SHSH's saved on file for previous builts you cant do anything right now.

Oh well. Thanks a lot though! I'll just jailbreak my iPhone 4 once I get it. Hopefully the jailbreak's out by then :D

can someone help me. i am slightly illiterate when it comes to this stuff. i have a iphone 3gs, 3.0, old bootrom. when i had gotten it i unlocked and jail broke it (i believe with prplrain). ultrasn0w seem easy but because i have the old bootrom it doesnt work. i am also using a mac, so it seems sn0wbreeze it out as well. any advice?

Built a custom 4.0 IPSW with pwnage and restore to that.
Then install ultrasnow to unlock.
