Anandtech reviewer says the gold 5s looks awesome in person. Not cheesy bling yellow, but a refined, mature appearance.
Slate looks 1000 times better in my humble opinion. I'd rather have the slate colour than a fingerprint sensor. The camera I wouldn't mind, but not for the extra cash it'll cost. SO glad to have got my I5 just before they were discontinued. I would be getting an S4 about now if I'd waited.
I think they both look good. I use a cover (don't most people? can't tell you how many times I've dropped the darned thing...), so the back of the phone isn't really that big of a deal.
