I am used to notifications on the ipad. There, after an email is read, on any device or computer, it stops displaying in notifications. Yes! That's great.

I'm now using iphone as well, ios 6, iPhone 5. But there the email will not disappear until you hit x and then clear. Even if I have deleted the email (e.g. using ipad or computer), it remains in iphone notifications, seemingly forever.

How can I get notifications to work in the better way on iPhone?

It is interesting that the x for clear does not appear for email notifications on the ipad. Is this a difference between iPhone and ipad notifications using ios6?? Or does the presence of the clear buttons on iphone but not on ipad indicate that the same mail account is working differently on my two devices?
