Old family movies to facebook

I have an old family movie that was converted into DVD from VCR. I would like to upload one of the scenes to my facebook. How do I do that on my MacBook Pro?

You rip them and transcode the video:

Then after that is done, you open the resulting file in QT Player X and use the TRIM feature (CMD+T) and then SAVE AS (CMD+SHIFT+S) and repeat it for every clip you want. You could also involve iMovie, but that might take longer.
