Hi all,
I have passed down my old iMac to my young son recently after buying a new 2011 model.
However within the last week the old one is now turning itself off and it will not allow you to switch it back on for at least a couple of hours.

Does anyone have an idea why this may be and do you have a solution I could try? Obviously my kid is very upset as he can't use it. Apple say it's too old to give help with. Nice.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Paul

With something like that it could be several things, could be the power supply, or it could be the logic board. I'd take it to a repair shop where you can get a diagnostic test then figure out if its something you can repair yourself or even want to.
