Hello, I got an imac2009late models:mb953 i5 2.66GHz HD4850 512M ,but screen with 5 stripes.

After installing osx10.13,reboot,then showed apple logo, and then turns into a white screen withous any strips and I can't enter the 10.13 el capitan system.

I had to power off and restart, press and hold shift key, I can enter the safe mode.

Can you help me analyze whether the IMAC screen is broken or the cable is broken or the video card is broken?

It's almost certainly the GPU/video, but unless you can fix it really cheaply... it's probably getting too old to be worth fixing...

yep, looks like the GPU is dying... all u need to know for a new one ist in this thread:

Agreed, I too would bet it's the graphics card which is defective.
I believe that one can change out the series 4 card for the series 6 card - IF you are adventurous! Whether it's cost effective on a 2009 iMac however is debatable.

Are you sure those list of cards are applicable to the late 2009 iMac11,1 ?

I checked the apple.com and got a result that imac2009late is as same as iMac 2010.

Even as a 27' monitor,I think it's worth it, This screen is still good and expensive,
but video card is cheap,It's about $50.

I have another question.
If I change to a new graphics card that supports metal, whether it's worth it or not,
Can I just install the Mojave directly or need to use MacOS﹣Mojave﹣patcher.dmg to hack it first?
If the metal function can be automatically turned on after installing Mojave?

Metal is in hardware, so u dont need to activate something, i think the cheapest one will be a k1100m more power u get with a k2100m

N i think u need the patch

Thank you,I will buy this k1100m,it's cheeper $30 and enough for me,I just need metal...
