I can't see any reason that it would not work but I wouldn't be surprised if Apple rigged it so it didn't fit quite right and forced a new purchase. Has anyone eyeballed this at all or wondered if it will work as well as the new iPad 2 dock (which looks completely different btw)?

My guess is it'll fit, but not snugly. Probably stand freely putting torque on the dock connector. Maybe you could pop a sticky-backed felt pad on it or something?

I was thinking that as well...that it might bend the dock connector backwards due to the thickness difference. Good idea on the felt pas or sticky foam since 1 of these on the back of the dock would make up for the difference without being too intrusive. They even have them in clear rubber....

I hate to spend that much on a dock in the first place so I hate to buy another one each time they come out
