I have an old iphone, non 3g 8 gigabyte with the silver back. I have AT&T now but I still cant use the iphone with my sim card. My friend tried unlocking it for me using blackrain but he said the OS is not supported. How exactly can I unlock this to make calls for my sim card?

Is it an AT&T phone or from another carrier ? If it's from AT&T, you just might need a new sim card.
By the way, go to iClarified, those phone are unlocked by BootNeuter (if it's not an AT&T phone)
