in march 2020, i mailed in for warranty exchange my 12gb iPhone se. i was sent a replacement (renewed/refurbisged device). i recently took some pics of something i wanted to list on ebay. when i inserted my pictures into the ad, they were rejected due to being under the minimum 500 pixels on the long side of the pic. after examining pics i had taken with both the old and new SE, i noticed that the old SE pics has a pixel
resolution of 1080 x 810, while the replacement SE was shooting at 400 x 300.

there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the resolution on the device. strangely, the front facing camera is 1.2 megapixels (which i believe would translate into 400 x 300). i'm wondering if the camera has its wires crossed, so to speak.

called applecare, they could not figure it out using screen share. they are forwarding the problem onto there engineers; should hear back tonite. any thoughts?

follow-up: i beleve the phone is good. the issue seems to lie with downloading photos to Photos from emailed pictures. due to flaky usb ports, i have been emailing my photos from my phone to myself, and then downloading them from the email message to Photos. they are arriving as low-res thumbnails.

i succeeded in connecting my phone via usb, and transferred some pics, and they all came through with full-res and embedded camera info.
