A recent post had me thinking about cool new iPod technologies, like integrating the iPod with the Airport Express with built in wireless or even a wireless adapter for the docking iPods. I realized my iPod is tooo out of date to use ANY of the aftermarket items for the newer iPods. So, I was wondering what kind of iPods are in use out there.

What kind? (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation, or mini) and what size iPod do you have? and How old?

Just curious! Hope you are enjoying your iPod!!!!

I have a 1st Gen. 10GB iPod. Its just over 2 years old.

I have the original 1st gen 5GB iPod (of note, its survived 3 car wrecks [although it took a chunk of my finger in one, long story] and about 15 6 ft falls and still runs great - just a badly tore up headphone jack :p)

3rd gen 15 GB at 1:17 P.M. on febuary 15, 2004

I'm too poor to afford anything else.

I fill it to it's maximum song capicity in 1.5 months.

I need a new hobby......nahhh, downloading tunes is funner!!! :D

I, too, have a first-gen 5GB iPod, which I bought in the fall of 2002. I think they were clearing them out then for the 2G ones. Fortunately for mine (I guess), I don't own a car.

40GB 3G bought in late March or early April....I think. My first iPod was a 10GB 2G that I got for Christmas in 2002. The best present I've ever received:)

I got a 1st Gen 5 GB iPod for $100 used, and kept that for a while. It was a lot of fun, but I began running out of space. For graduation last year, my dad updated it with a 15GB 3G iPod, engraved. Much better, though I get annoyed by the touch buttons sometimes.

1st gen. 5gb here. Bought in Feb. '02, and it still runs fine.

I have an 1st. gen. 5GB too that was bought in Feb. 2002, but it doesn't run anymore (at all), and a new 40GB (which has a long story about how it was a 30, then got replaced by a 40 that was never delivered, then a new 40 which got replaced by my current 40!).

I have a 5gig 1st Gen iPod. It gets OK batt life and everything else works great.

I also have a blue iPod mini. I can suprisingly still get 11 hours out of it after 3 months of use.

I have an original 5 gig iPod that I got in december 2002 for Christmas. That's the only REAL 1st gen iPod. :D

Props to the old school amongst us--we, my friends, are the trendsetters.

2nd gen 10gb which i picked up in april 2003. would be nice to have on-the-go playlists and song ratings (ahem), but still, its better than any cd player.
So when the 4th gen ipods come out, will all the 3rd gen ipod owners be left out of the new features, the same way us 2nd gen owners are left out of these features? (the ones that should have been given to us with a simple software update: on-the-go playlists and song rating)

1st Gen 5GB, the iPod came out on the 24th October 2001 in America and I got mine the 20th December 2001, first shipment to NZ.

I've been there from the begining....
