iPod touch Old iPod Replacement Help?

Hi, my iPod Touch 2nd. gen, 16 GB's dock is chipped off, and is somewhere in the world. It will not charge, and I was wondering if the battery or the dock is the problem. Is it the dock or the battery, again the dock is chipped off of the bottom. It will only charge up to 5%. Thanks!
