Hi all, just wondering if anyone remembers the name of an old typing game that was out around Mac OS 6 and 7.x days. I'm pretty sure it was simply called "Type!", and it had a tutorial part and a game part when you ran hurdles against a computer opponent and you had to type with accuracy and speed to beat them.

I actually learnt how to type using that game - we had it on the home computer and it was on all the computers at school. I'm not sure if it was free, but back in those days all Mac computers I used had it.

I can't remember the exact name, but was it something like "Mabel's Teaching Typing" or something like that?

I seem to recall that from System 7.

I used to have a couple of versions for when I was a kid on my Windows 98 and Windows XP computers. I hated doing it but my mum said that I would thank her when I can touch-type my essays. She was right :) (MUM'S ARE ALWAYS RIGHT!)

I wouldn't mind getting a copy of it to see how fast my words per minute is now.

No it wasn't Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing - that was the other bit of typing software that was around at that time as well, but it wasn't as fun as the "Type!" game. From memory the icon of the game/app was just a big T.

Incidentally, I started reminiscing about that typing game/app after seeing Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing 2011 on the Mac App Store...

Anyone else?

Or anyone know of a repository/listing of all the old System 6 or System 7 applications?
