Ok, I've used macs for over 20 years. We have an iMac at home and I have a powermac G5 in my business. We are thinking of getting a laptop and upgrading here at home.

I do not understand all of the jargon, i.e. ATA drives, bus speed, L2 cache, Boot ROM version, etc, etc.

Where can I access a good explanation of all of this so that I can choose wisely?

Thanks.

Just a thought...what are you planning on upgrading?

The iMacs (in particular the G4) aren't particularly easy to upgrade aside from memory. Laptops (if you meant purchasing an older one) can be similarly difficult due to their form factor although replacing hard drives or optical ones is possible.

I suppose he meant upgrading as in getting a new computer.

or forget about the tech-babble, post your needs and requirements right here, and wait for the sage, considered, contradictory, inflammatory and speculative advice to flood in. :)
