Old macbook hd

I had a macbook from about 5 years ago or so and it pretty much died out. Bought a new macbook about a year ago and took the HD out of the old macbook, bought a HD reader/writer. Just plugged it in, the applications, library, and "Private" folders show up. I can click on them all except the Library which is greyed out. I can only right click it and check out the options but cant open it to recover my old pictures, videos etc... I changed all the permissions and saved it but still cant click to open it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
