I recently sold my older MBP and already backed up the system via Time Machine. However, I need to wipe clean the hard drive for the new user. Is there a clear cut way to restore the system? I do not have the boot drive with me as I am traveling but would like to know if there is a way without using the disk.

Thanks in advance.

I just did that myself and the only way is to boot from OS X disk go to disk utility do a secure erase and reinstall the OS. This is the safest and easiest way.

Drop the $25 for a copy Snow Leopard and use that disc to do your erase and install.

Yeah, buy the cheap OSX from Apple and do a clean install. Also, give the copy of OSX to the buyer, it'll show that you cared about them, thus leading to possible future business activities :D

Or...you can just replace the HD with a new one ^_^
