Hi,

I have a Macbookpro A1260 Early 2008
Core 2 duo
3GB RAM
OS X 10.7.5

I need to run izotope and that requires OS X 10.8 so my question is what is the best OS X version to upgrade to?
I have looked at the system requirements and it looks like I can upgrade up to and including 10.11, which will be the best version without slowing down my poor old Mac too much?

Thanks

I got one of these.

4GB ram and a 500GB HDD it ran El cap ok.
You can go to 6GB ram in these
And SSD of course would be better but it was ok for everyday things.

I do not know izotope so cannot comment on that.

but worked fine for me for work.

I'd try 10.8 Mountain Lion.
It was a very smooth and stable version of the OS for me.

You might consider an SSD. Not sure what's involved in the installation for a 2008 MBPro -- go to ifixit.com to see what's involved.

You don't need a large one.
Even 250gb will do.

top panel comes off.

it is quite easy just be careful of the one cable that connects to mobo.

Drive in in front left corner looking at front of machine.

screws inside battery recess should not be over tightened or with break stand off from top cover, I done it to mine!

OS 10.8 will cost $19.99 from Apple, if you have not previously purchased it. It will run better without a SSD.

OS 10.11 is a free download from Apple. It is more supported by modern apps and Apple updates.

The free one sounds the best one to me!! :D

I'm short of money at the mo so an SSD will have to wait but thanks for instructions

Thanks everyone
