Hi all

I have been toying with the idea of getting a mac mini to use as a home server / media centre with my TV for a while.

However, I have been reading in some places that a mini can't output the wide-screen resolutions on an s-video adapter & as I have yet to update to a modern TV, this rules out the mac mini. A MacBook Pro can output the required resolutions...

Is there any reason I can't use an older MBP, probably a 15" core duo, as a sleek alternative? This should have no problem handling HD content once I eventually upgrade my TV should it?

I already have the Elgato Eye TV Diversity to use with whatever mac I finally settle on.

Thanks in advance for any opinions / advice.

Doug

I think you could do this at not have any problems. I've often considered using a mini or another old mac as a home server/media centre as well. I say you do it!
