Hi all,
I'm moving to a new house, and am planning to put my drobo down in the basement hooked up to *something* to serve up media files to two Apple TVs (which will be connected via ethernet), 2 or 3 Airport Expresses (so, wireless), the iMac in the kitchen and my Macbook Air. I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting the new Mac Mini with the FW800 port (I have the FW800 capable Drobo) or if I can just go with the old Mini and its FW400 port. Not sure if FW400 vs 800 would make any difference, particularly when streaming video over ethernet to the Apple TVs? Would FW400 be the bottleneck, or is the ethernet to the AppleTVs (it's 10/100) going to be the limiting factor? I'd like to save the couple hundred bucks on a Mini that's just going to sit in the basement, but don't want to scrimp on the quality of my media consumption experience :)
Any advice would be great!
