USB connections fit-- but getting error messages.. Car FM transmitter and my old NANO (1st or 2nd gen AC adapter block) says NOT CHARGING...

Assuming they are no longer compatible- but just trying to confirm.. Why is this?

Isn't it FUN?

Apple changed from Firewire charging to straight USB charging awhile back (at the 4g nano i think).... the new stuff works on the old, but the old doesn't work on the new.

Which is why i can't charge my Touch in the car.....

yeah....

Thanks for the explanation, its what I figured, but I guess I was hoping I was wrong as I stared at an old pile of accessories- while perusing the prices of new stuff....

Apple and their business partners can claim "product innovation"- but reality is that this is greed and a mechanism to drive more revenue for the ecosystem. I guess thats part of the business model- but still makes me mad!!

On a technical note- is there any risk to my new Touch to use non OEM power supplies?? I.e. cause device to blow a fuse or such?

Thanks for the quick reply. This forum is a great way to share information and lets me rant as well! hahaha...

I wonder if Belkin will give me a trade in.... or else my FM transmitter becomes kindling for my next bonfire.

There are a few adapters floating around that *should* convert them to work, they are $25 or so though.... i'm totally beat or i'd go find the link for you. If you search on my posts it is there somewhere....

We have THREE $60 monster car cords in the family that now don't work. I'm hanging onto using my old busted video ipod as long as possible in the car because of the cord issue....

And i still want to charge it.
