Old residue under screen protector?

I put on a new protector bc my old one was anti glare and it was grainy. I love my new one but there is some residue from the old protector, under the new one, at the left edge of the screen. I was thinking about picking up the screen with tape, and wiping the screen with the cleaning cloth to remove the residue. Mould this work, or make it worse? (this is the same protector that I posted in the other thread, but I have found the issue, the residue)

Should work, just use a microfiber cloth so you don't leave any lint behind.
