The first text a I sent from my iPhone 5 after I downloaded ios8 was received by my husband's iPhone 5 in a new text conversation. We have Straighttalk. This second new conversation was under my contact name but it included random texts and pics from older conversations (May 1, Apr 27, etc). My phone shows no record of sending these messages. And the pic that popped up in this second conversation had been deleted from my husband's phone and I do not have it saved in my photos! The conversation went something like this:
Him: thanks for the pic
Me: what pic?
Him: the one you just sent me.
Me: ???? I didnt send you a pic
Him: [he texts an old sexy photo of me]
Me: ??? I don't even have that photo anymore!
Him: oh... did you mean to send it to someone else???

You can see how distressing this whole thing is!
Please help explain this if you can.

This has nothing to do with iOS 8. It's been happening to me since at least ios 6. I delete texts a lot especially group ones and without fail when a new one starts up with a text, it will be 3-4 texts from days, weeks, or months ago.

Weird.
